This seasonal collection debuted in conjunction with J.Crew’s 40th anniversary. I conceptualized this season as a moment to celebrate the brand’s heritage and reexamine the tenets of our identity. One of those cornerstones is our coastal heritage. This principle was particularly resonant with the cultural zeitgeist, converging with noted social media trends like “coastal grandmother” and “mermaidcore.” The collection was grounded in an exploration of nautical motifs and swimwear, with a palette of gradient hues of aqua and azure. Editorial shot in Anguilla evoked the lifestyled images of archival catalogs.
Another brand tenet is the bold and unapologetic embrace of saturated color. Vibrant hues were celebrated in studio editorials and on our social channels. We emphasized a continual iteration of key pieces for which the brand is known and beloved, maximizing our fame in these categories - including recreating iconic pieces from our archive and sourcing select vintage. While honoring four decades of heritage, we approached the brand through a contemporary reframing of timelessness that is both refined and reassuring.
