JUNE 2024
For June 2024, J.Crew unveiled Supernatural—a collection that reimagined seaside sensuality through an ethereal, tactile lens. Under my creative direction, the collection became a siren call for leisured travel, where textures glistened and breathed with life. Gloss met matte, shine softened into transparency, and iridescence played against open-weave knits, all echoing the hypnotic shimmer of sunlit water. The wet look, reimagined.
Supernatural invited a feeling of unstudied beauty, as if the clothes had effortlessly fallen into place. It was a modern homage to J.Crew’s heritage of natural ease, reframed with a desire for ornamentation and quiet glamour. Each look invited personalization - pieces designed to be broken apart and reassembled to suit her tastes, her travels, her whims.
Drawing on the mythos of sirens and mermaids, the collection evoked the tactile pleasures of salt-streaked skin and sandy ankles. Natural fibers like linen, raffia, and straw conjured sun-soaked days, while polished silhouettes and timeless shapes ensured enduring elegance. There was a reaction here, too—a gentle rebellion against the hard edges of modernity, favoring instead the comfort of familiar textures and an earthy sensuality.
